A single in-dash CD would be a step backwards. I guess an in dash 6 disc would be nice, but the current system is perfect, I think, esp. if you have kids. Lots of kid's tapes. The current system is nice because the tape player is hidden.

I like the standard 16 inch wheels. 16 inches is plenty big for a grocery getter car, and is plenty big for the drivng that 99% of C class owners do. Plus, 16 incher tires cost much less to replace, and have a better ride than 17 or 18. For most C owners, ride is more important that ultimate road grip.

I'm glad it doesn't come with standard Xenon. I find that Xenon isn't any better in city driving, where the streets are well lit anyways. I plan to keep my car 12-15 years, and I don't want out of warranty, 8 year old Xenons on my car. Xenons are more about marketing than anything else.

Window switches, color combos, styling are all fine to me. I've even gotten used to the foot e-brake.

Now, the things I would change:

1. Offer the C320 with the 6 speed. I would have bought that in a second.

2. Simpler climate control. That would be nice. The one in my '87 BMW is just flat out simpler and easier to use. I still can't get just plain, unprocessed air to flow through the vents in the C.

3. Better quality control, esp. on the electronics. MB is really starting to get a bad rep. in the press, they need to be careful with that. MBs have been historically known for quality, but they seem to be faltering in that regard. My car has had more little problems than it should, as have lots of others.

i spoke to keenans sales manager, and you can indeed get designo interiors on any car you want.... it however a very pricey option on a car that does not offer designo, and turns lead time to about 6-8 months. then again he could have just been full of *****.

note i said he may be full of *****.... i dont have any desire to spend 7k extra and wait about 6 more months for a car. Especially when i can always just go to cst and void some warranties for a grand and a half and get the same effect.

C32 AMG, Volvo S80T6
a few things to make it up to others

Include an in dash 6 disc changer
Electric folding side view mirrors
18" wheels
DVD based Nav system
Bi Xenon standard
Move the cruise control switch
A spare tire!!!!!!!!

I guess we have different request depending on if we have the sedan or the coupe and even if you have a C320 or a C32. The differences on the latter may be minimal.

C230 Sports Coupe
Standard 17 inch wheels,
Xenons for sure,
standard in-dash changer,
a "sportier" sport package but make C7 standard.
an auto 6 would be nice,
of course I would really like a AMG C Coupe,
no rear wiper
more lateral support in seats,
a little louder exhaust

In addition to the many already noted, Here are a few of my own wishes for the SEDAN, all of then nit-picks...

1) Bigger outside mirrors, please.
2) A Dead Pedal instead of carpeting
3) Hand brake instead of foot brake
4) Temp gauge scale than matches to english or metric
5) Compass replacing clock in MFD
6) Move clock in MFD to radio face (where others can see it)
7) B-pillar door seal that doesn't interfere (rub) on clothing
8) wider B-pillar entrance (move it toward rear of car)
9) Central locking switch in dash where pressing upper half means unlock rather than lock.
10) Aux input for standard radio (non-comand)
11) Slightly lighter steering feel 1-10 mph
12) A plug-in block in fusebox for hardwiring aftermarket accessories
13) Countdown timers in standard stereo/CD
14) Let me "unprogram" MFD pages that say "No Phone Installed" etc.
15) Ability on steering wheel to switch between radio/tape/CD/Phone
16) Change the all-open/all-close window feature to work from the RF side of the SmartKey (like the door lock/unlock) instead of through IR... aiming at the door handle 4-ft away is silly

Let's see... If I remember correctly, you're the one who is gonna replace his door mounted lock buttons with some Renntech toy, right?

So let's focus on that door knob for a minute. You push it DOWN to lock and pull it UP to unlock, right? It's done this way on virtually every auto known to man, so why does the dash mounted central locking toggle switch work just the opposite? (Pressing upper half should unlock, lower half-down- to lock)

It's a simple "positive transfer" of ergonomic learning. I know you're teasing, but it's an embarrassment for me to pull to the curb to pick-up riders and make them wait (even for a second) while I think through that switch procedure.

...and besides, Martha Stewart is a good thing, right?

I didn't know that hookers were so sensitive. :p

You're right, as much as I'd hate to disagree. You could always switch the wiring. Of course, getting to it would cost $1k at a dealership, and void your warranty. But hey, since you've done some wiring, I wonder if it would be that difficult.

Benzo - nice fabric. Don't know if it goes with your dentalwork, though. Seriously, is there a $ figure that you're looking for to change that avatar? It's really just fowl.

K Car
I originally posted this in the wrong thread so I am correcting it:

I don't have any major complaints with my C, but here are a few things I would change:

1. Instrument cluster - I understand the redesign in order to get a larger display window, but I think a larger tach and smaller speedo would be better. Maybe even an electonic display screen that looked like a needle in a circle; somthing you could customize!

2. Better cupholder - Although I think it's "cool" the way it pops out, it doesn't hold big or wide cups that well.

3. Different fabric on the lower door pocket - No matter how hard I try, I keep rubbing my foot against the felt getting in and out. The Java color really shows off the dirt.

4. Better volume control on the steering wheel - I really don't like the way you have to either hold the volume for like 5 seconds to turn it up or down, or contiously tap it. It should adjust faster.

5. A small loop on the key ring for the valets to attach the tag (when you remove the metal key).

That's about all I can think of right now.

These are all just really minor things IMO. Overall, I really like the car, and I am very satisfied with my purchase.
Benzo - Seriously, is there a $ figure that you're looking for to change that avatar? It's really just fowl.
I second that!! Lets take up a collection.

When I installed the in-dash Becker CD, it appeared as if the console controls are on some type if network - there are only 4 wires going to that row of switches on the C230K (hazard, ESP, airbag, lock and tow alarm). Just want to save the **** guy wasting his time

On the other hand, a volume control that moves too "fast" is a pain -- always re-adjusting to get the level where you really want it. My wife's car does this -- I end up using the knob directly.

LOL! I guess I laid myself open--- er, make that set myself up--- for that one. :p

I also wish Benzo would change his avatar. Or at least do some flossing. Those choppers remind me of my black sheep cousin in Bois 'd Arc, MO... the cousin with one green eye, one blue...

Not sure we should have to pay him to change it. Maybe we should just report him to the moderators for "rude and offensive" posting.

I agree that too fast would also be a problem Our other car (BMW) seems to work just right, and our old Grand Cherokee seemed to work just right also.

As far as using the knob, I find myself using the knob more often to turn the radio down when talking/listening to someone else in the car. The steering wheel switch just doesn't seem quick enough.
