2002 C320 no start

I just acquired a 02 c320 that has been parked for about 2 years, there were no issues with the car when it was parked. I've installed a new battery & everything seems to work as it should (lights, radio, key fob, windows ect ect) however it will not start. When the key is turned to "on" all the dash lights & chimes come on as they should but when turned to "start" position -- nothing, there is no response at all, no clicks or noises, no lights dimming, like you didn't even turn the key. I've checked the starting system & alarm system fuses. Volt meter reads13 + volts. The key fob works but I'm wondering if the immobilizer has locked out or something. I used to be a Tech (Acura & Lexus) but I have no experience with MB.

If no crank, check fuse 52 in the front SAM. As yours is an older car it has likely blown the 15A fuse. Replace with 20A fuse. There was a Benz DTB on this. Fuses 31, 52 & 57 must be intact for start enable.

This is 99% the cause of no crank. If it's not that then we can walk you through the rest.

I had already check the start & alarm system fuses, they all look good.

Glyn thanks so much for your interest in my issue. I have read the links you suggested & the part about the trans shift module got my attention. In my original post I stated that the car (c320) had no issues when parked 2 years ago however not exactly true ---- since I could not imagine there could be any relevance, for simplicity, I chose not to mention that there is a trans issues, likely the leaky o-ring on sensor. I apologize for leaving that out. Would you support the idea that a damaged shift module could cause a "no crank / no start" ??? And unplugging the sensor would allow the starter to engage ??? Please share your thoughts & knowledge.
