Phillips Vision Plus vs. HID
I put my C230 with the Phillips Vision Plus on the left and my freinds Jag X-Type on the right projecting unto my white garage doors. The Jag had a purple fringe around the outside. The Phillips Vision Plus are brighter and whiter than stock bulbs but the HIDs are significantly whiter, brighter and cast a larger light pattern. The picture was untouched other than to resize it to work within the forum limits.

Actually the Phillips Vision + looks pretty white to me, even in comparison to the purplish HIDs. They are considerably dimmer than the HIDs but I don't see the yellow. The factory halogens are more yellow and dimmer than the Phillips Vision +.
The big difference to me is the Phillips are concentrated on small beam where the HIDs are spread throughout evenly, no hot spots. I'm curious if the aftermarket HID kits that many are putting in are as even as these factory HIDs.

aftermarket hid probably don't have the same "even-ness" as the factory. halogen bulb headlights have the bulb centered in the reflector to provide to proper projection of the light (hence, u have different types, H7, 9005...etc). hid have an arc type light source which is quite different from the tungsten filament in the halogen bulb, so it's really difficult to provide the proper hid reflection from reflectors designed for halogen bulbs. my 2 cents.
