Automatic volume??

Is there a way I can turn off the automatic volume (where the radio/receiver listens and adjust to surrounding noise)?
...I installed a couple of subs (800watts) and when it pumps out bass and makes a lot of vibration, I think the receiver/mic picks it up as noise which makes the volume go up (way up). This only occur when a lot of bass is produced.
Has anyone encountered this kind of situation?
Thanks!

This features must be turned off by the dealer. I think it's a two step process that can be done pretty quickly and easily. There was a very informative post about exactly what needs to be done, but I can't seem to find it now. Maybe someone can locate it or post the info. here. I plan to have mine turned off at Service A.

Yes, Star Diagnostics controls that option. The dealer can control the decible amout too. If your is going up too much you can dial it down, or de-activate it. Mine is turned down to 3 decibles. I like it on. They should do this free of charge. Mine did.

I assume you are talking about the BOSE Audiopilot. There is a microphone to the right of the mirror in the headliner. You can feel a little hole when you run your finger over this area. Pop open the dome light and you can unplug the mic.

This is different than the speed sensitive volume setting found in Star Diag.

There was a thread on this about a billion years ago with photos from someone (maybe it was on the 'other' site).

No one who has disconnected the mike has reported any error messages of the multi-function display.

Is there a trick to opening the dome light? I can't seem to figure out an easy way to get it open.

Use a flat head screwdriver and carefully pry the cover. Start from the side closest to the mic.

Got it open... I found a couple of wires (thick-end connected with the dome switches, thin-runs inside to god knows where). Which one should I disconnect? I felt (couldn't see) they're both connected to the black thing where the mic is. HELP.

Thanks again!
