on my CL203 2002 M111 C200K, I was wondering what part was missing : I have nothing attached in front of the coolant bottle and there's a little connector hanging in this area... see picture attached
After research on your excellent forum, it seems that's the place for the auxiliary water pump used for heating the interior.
now that I know what's supposed to be in this place, I need to find one... I hope I'll find that at the grave yard.
on pictures, I see 3 hoses.
Could you guys explain me where the these hoses are plugged?
AFAIK you don't need that pump if it's not there. It is mainly for the so-called residual heating system that keeps the cabin warm for some time after the engine is turned off. It takes more than just the pump and hoses. You will need a new climate control panel (with Rest button), and you will need to enable the functionality through MB Star DAS.
This is wierd to have this connector hanging alone in the middle of nowhere...
Is it realy normal to have a lonely connector?
On my thermatic control panel, next to the "AUTO" button I have an "EC" button always red.
my AC is not working (I just bought this car)
I read that this red light always on when engine runing could be because not enough pressure in the AC system. But also that this red light when engine OFF was to continue having hot air : that's why I'm wondering if things could be related.

I can't speak for the pre-facelift models, however on my 2007 I was able to activate REST without buying a new control module. I just had to activate it using Star DAS.
jrsmith, that's cool, I may need to try that as well. So you press the AC button after engine off and it lights up and heat is blowing or what? Does the key have to stay in ignition?

Pull the key out, press the AC button for a half second, and presto, fan kicks on and car stays warm while you run a quick errand.

I will chime in about pre face lift. I have an 03 1.8L and with the key in position 2 and the engine off, the aux coolant pump will continue to pump warm coolant to the heater core. I have no rest button any where.
anyone thinking about adding the aux should really just check the electrical connector at the pump terminal and see if there is voltage with key in position 2 first.
Hello guys
I have a prefacelift 2002 w203
it doesn't have an aux pump
And it doesn't have 12v on the connector either.
I want to install a pump but it seems I need to enable it from Star first
The services here aren't aware of such setting
I will be so glad if somebody can tell me where to enable it?
Probably under climate control... Then where?
Regards
Parameters for the air conditioning are actually controlled by the EIS (EZS). Coding for both the pump and REST are done there. Here is a screen shot of what you need to change. Obviously Residual Heat should be changed to Activated if that is what you want.
Yes that's what i was looking for
Thank you a lot.
On my W124 the auxiliary water pump is activated by setting the heating to ‘high’ (there’s a detent stop) and then the pump runs. Will this also work in a similar way in a pre-facelift (2002) w203 which has a similar detent stop on the temperature control?
I have issues with the Aux water pump for cabin heat not turning on, but the pump itself is good, I connected it directly to 12V and it works fine. The climate control module in the cabin does not provide voltage to the pump. I am not sure if this is the faulty module or not. To be sure I need an answer to my question - does the module have some stepper module overload protection integrated into the module and once it detects the overload, does it turn the power off to the Aux water pump? maybe some flaps are sticky/stuck and stepper motors get overloaded and then overload protection triggers the power cut off? if not, then I would say the climate control module needs replacement. if I\ll get a hold of a spare module, I will definitely have an answer of what the cause of the issue is, but meanwhile, I would appreciate it if someone could provide any advice. Thanks!
