Installer fine, yet what manufacturer produces such a product? I've never heard of the product you described with a sealed hidden box...

www.directed.com uses several manufacturers and briefly surfing through them I couldn't find the "sealed box" idea you describe.

Starts right up on the first trun of the key now. It didn't when I got it but with a tune up and some new parts she purs like a kitten. Except that damn timing chain. I need to replace it, it has a little slop. Stalls first shot in real cold temps but stays running after next start. So the starter would just restart it. If I recall correctly they make a few attempts and restart after initial stall out on first attempt. It all depends on what it gets for a tach signal.

Also once this box method is applied... can you use it with any remote start setup or would it have to be specifically viper/directed?

Alrighty... so i just talked to a friend at Best Buy and he said that putting remote start into my car is no problem whatsoever... he says its a pretty routine thing that people need. So im gonna have the Clifford Matrix 2.1 RS installed... The remote start setup is like $500... but you gotta love employee discount

It's called a bypass...not sure if it would be on their website because it's not really a product...it's somthing installers use.

Directed doesn't sell off of the net so you need to use an installer...

It's not like you say "Oh my god the new 4568 Bypass is here!" It's just an addon part if your car needs it.

It depends on the dealer. I did my stereo and my dealer said they would not warranty any electrical issue if they think it came from the stereo. Your dealer might do the same or just say because you touched your electronics your warranty (for that) is void. If your concerned I'd check with them first.

Hmm, not to be a nay-sayer, but I am a rep for a couple of auto security manufacturers, and have sold DEI and Clifford for the last 12 years, and I know of no bypass for the INFRARED keys. (which the w203 uses)

The sealed boxes you are referring to are plentiful, but only for "transponder" keys which use RF (radio frequency) signals. Such as ford (DEI part# 555F) and Honda (555H I belive).

Hopefully I am wrong, since I would love to see a remote start on these cars! Lemme know!

Cris

P.S. The wheels below (SSR 18") are for sale, please PM me if interested!
