Remote Start
If you find a better solution let me know.
Back to the question, i did ask about the remote start for my CLK430 and they said it could not be done due to the infarred system in the ignition, now for older models it can be done (keys with the switchblade type mechanism), and i did have it done to my 2002 ML320, i took it to this local and reputable audio shop, i wouldnt take my car to a place like Best Buy to get it done...
You would need to buy a spare key and mount it as close as possible to the ignition switch but behind the dash. This would make the car think the key was in the ignition but not turned to the on or start positions. Also this would turn on and leave on anything that turns on when the key is just stuck in the ignition and most likely cuase a drain on the electrical system as well as bypassing all security features and make the car easiser to steal. But it would allow the engine to start and idle. I have never done this but it has been talked about about a dozen times on this and other forums.
What kind of interference would be created when you now insert YOUR key in the ignition to start the car? Would there be a similar problem as has been identified with the keyless go feature found on the other models?

It can be done, i've seen it done on an '02 Sedan. You lose a key, but it can be done.

Lose a key? how does it work? please explain...
I had to do the same thing for my Jaguar.
I would do it with my car but I have a stick and I like to keep the car in gear.

There is a bypass box that must be installed. The key is placed in the box and the car thinks the key is in the ignition.

So then wouldnt that defeat the purpose of having infared keys? cant someone start the car at that point?
IF somone breaks into your car and finds the hidden box, opens it up...they have a key to your ride....something to think about which is why the box is supposed to be hidden and sealed very well.
Erik
Yeah you can start the car. In order for the car to move you need to actually insert a key and turn it. Then depress the brake. If you do anything else to the car or even shake the car hard it will shut right down. It's not going to be like MBs keyless go where you never need to insert a key...you still do in order to move the car.

sorry if i sound dumb... but im so lost on how that would work...
Sorry about all the questions... but how close to the actual sensor does the key have to be? and once you turn the car on... you have to actually insert another set of keys to move the car?!?

1. You remote start - car starts, still locked.
2. Unlock car
3. Get in
4. insert key
5. turn key to start position
6. hit brake pedal
7. Drive
If anything happens to the car without the key being in (brake window, shake car, etc...) the car shuts. If you forget to turn the key and hit the brake, the car will shut.

thanks for the info... sorry about all the questions

There system was a pager design system with car pic to show motion around car zone araming and set off plus car start
it can be done, i have seen it on the w209 clk by a company called magicar, they need the car for 3 days they virtualy strip it tapping into the ecu and reprograming u would loose a key but it is a neat toy i had it on my civic, however it would cost about £1000-£1300, which is about $2000-2300 bucks.

They do it by me for under $250 USD installed and they need 1 1/2 hours with the car...but it's usually done within 45-1 hour.

Who? The way you describe it sound sinteresting and well worth it in the -45C weather we've had lately... I'm sure most of the shops in my city wouldn't be knowledgable enough to do this, so pointing to some websites where we could get info would be a great help, thanks.

As for the C, it is not so bad as it is garaged all night....
This is why I got the heated seats. Start the car and set them to high and within about 2 minutes your *** is nice and toasty, as well as you lower back.... Now for my 190E a remote start would be so much more helpful, those darn MB Tex or whatever those were seats are cold as hell in the morning.....
