Why?
Yeah, I"ve had my SC out a few times.
No big deal.
I do go into some detail about the removal in a supercharger silencer removal thread.
Basically remove the air cleaner, oil catch, plenum, belts, and then unbolt the SC from the frame, using universal socket do hicky's that allow you to unbolt stuff at an angle.
I pulled it to the header in, and later for a leaking manifold gasket.
The only real trick is the clip that holds the hose from the intercooler on, and check the silencer thread for info on that. As far as torque, not a big deal.
Get a new gasket for the plenum, and maybe a new gasket...check there, you'll see, I have diagrams.

Don't you just loosen the tensioner and it will retension the chain?
Saw a few Youtube video's on that, but been reluctant to try it.
Saw some other references in threads about people who didn't know what they were doing causing the chain to fail from messing with the tensioner, so mm...not sure. That was in a 170 forum.
Please let me know how it goes, I have the same "problem" but just felt it was a
characteristic of the engine.
I just let it warm up. Part of the reason is the emission controls "pre-heats" the cat, and for the 1st minute or so it makes a hell of a clatter until some valve opens.
I also seem to have a lazy lifter that comes and goes, but the car still runs generally well.
With 224K miles on the clock, I figure I'll just throw another engine in one of these days. Just waiting for them to show up at the pick and pull...and then, look out!
