Some help with 2002 c230 supercharger R&R please?

I have been searching the forums but am unable to find any info that details torque specs and tighten sequence for the supercharger for the M111 engine. Does anyone who has performed this work have the specs? I am trying to DIY the chain tensioner but cannot since the blower is in the way. I figured once I have it out I can see if it needs to get service or replaced as well. Thanks.

Thank you so much for your help. I'm going you tackle the job this coming week. Crossing my fingers that the tensioner will take care of the noisy engine and that S/C is healthy.

I'd spin the tensioner pulley first and listen/feel for any roughness and slightest noises. That will pretty much tell you if the noise is coming from the tensioner vs other pulleys.

Woa, DIY the chain tensionser?
Why?

Yeah, I"ve had my SC out a few times.
No big deal.
I do go into some detail about the removal in a supercharger silencer removal thread.

Basically remove the air cleaner, oil catch, plenum, belts, and then unbolt the SC from the frame, using universal socket do hicky's that allow you to unbolt stuff at an angle.

I pulled it to the header in, and later for a leaking manifold gasket.

The only real trick is the clip that holds the hose from the intercooler on, and check the silencer thread for info on that. As far as torque, not a big deal.

Get a new gasket for the plenum, and maybe a new gasket...check there, you'll see, I have diagrams.

Reason to change the chain tensioner is that on cold startups I have about 45 seconds of rough and loud running. After that it is fairly smooth however does not feel acceptable until after it warms to operating temp and I've driven a bit. I've previously run the engine with all the belts off the front and still makes no difference to the sound/smoothness of the engine. Only thing left whipping around is the chain but I can only do the tensioner relatively easily so I am going after it. If that does not do the trick I believe there's a lazy lifter or something but I would not classify that as an easy DIY. The chain tensioner is externally serviceable and cheap enough at $80 that its worth a try.

I think you have to pull the timing cover, no?
Don't you just loosen the tensioner and it will retension the chain?
Saw a few Youtube video's on that, but been reluctant to try it.
Saw some other references in threads about people who didn't know what they were doing causing the chain to fail from messing with the tensioner, so mm...not sure. That was in a 170 forum.

Please let me know how it goes, I have the same "problem" but just felt it was a
characteristic of the engine.
I just let it warm up. Part of the reason is the emission controls "pre-heats" the cat, and for the 1st minute or so it makes a hell of a clatter until some valve opens.
I also seem to have a lazy lifter that comes and goes, but the car still runs generally well.

With 224K miles on the clock, I figure I'll just throw another engine in one of these days. Just waiting for them to show up at the pick and pull...and then, look out!

If you loose the tensioner you have to remove it and put it into some default position, otherwise the chain has not enough tension. Be careful. I don't have the documents for that.

try serach google : chain site:benzbits.com
