Oil leak - head gasket or something else?
Ever since it began getting warm (above 70 degrees) when I exit my '06 C280 I can smell oil. Looking under the hood I see the general area where the oil is coming from and I'm worried I'll need a new head gasket. The area can be seen in the photo, and is on the engine under the drivers side air intake hose. To me it looks like its coming from the head gasket, but I'm not familiar at all with these vehicles makeup.
Think its the head gasket or something else? The dealer says if its the head gasket it will be around $2200 to fix.

if it's getting warm outside, put the front of the car up on jackstands and crawl under there with a flashlight...save the cash for the parts. Best thing to do is clean the crap out of it, then look again in a day or so for fresh oil. Head gasket leaks will be very evident at the head/block mating point. Meanwhile check the VCG, oil filter HG, oil cooler gasket, oil pan gasket, mechanical vac pump (if applicable) and even the little gasket around the oil fill cap.
