2006 Mercedes C230 Sport
Question Check Engine

Hello,

I am new to this website and honestly I am not a very car savvy person. I have a 2006 C230 sport and my check engine light is on. When I am driving and I'm starting to come to a stop, right before I come to a full stop, the car jerks. It kind of feels like I slammed on the breaks for a split second. Sometimes its worse than others. Also when I go out to my car in the morning or anytime I haven't started it in longer then 5-8 hours, while the car is in park and my foot is off the gas, the engine revs on its own over and over. Then when I reverse and put the car in drive I will put my foot on the gas and nothing will happen and I will just idle for about 4-8 seconds then everything goes back to normal. After all this the car rides smoothly all day. Any idea what this might mean?

Another thing is my car seems to go through coolant like crazy. Should I be worried about this?

I appreciate any help you can offer. Again I didn't grow up learning a lot about cars so unfortunately I can't figure it out myself. I was hoping someone on this forum might have some insightful information before I took it into the shop.

You should take it to a dealer and have them pull the code. But at least to any auto parts store for a simple diagnostic check.

Then report the results back here for a more complete and accurate discussion.

Maybe best to get a dealer to have a look. Should not be using coolant and they can pull codes at the same time
