Please can someone help me out here?

Hi everyone, my names Ian and I am new to this site. I'm hoping someone can help me out and point me in the right direction here. I just recently bought another newer Mercedes which is a C240 2003 (W203 chassis with M112 912 engine) when I bought it, it had a slight mis-fire problem which has turned into something major now, I have spent a lot of money on parts etc; and it transpired that I needed another engine, I have put this in, but when the engine is idling, it is making a 'popping sound' at tick-over rev speed. Has anyone else experienced this or does anyone have any clues as to why this could be happening? Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys

Hi Ian
Welcome to the site. May help to put some more specific information in the title...
also more details on the engine replacement and problem... when it started, consistent or not, who did the job etc.

Hi and thanks so much for your reply. In answer to your question, yes its a constant popping sound, which I seem to think is coming from cylinder 5, it sounds like its drawing air in from somewhere, and now Im starting to think about contacting the MB dealer to order a new MAF sensor and all the linking breather pipes/tubes to see if that will remedy the problem
