May be history now, but this thread still applies...LOL

But no, on a more serious note, I understand how tiring it can be to type out the same replies over and over again, especially with so many c-class drivers out there, all facing the same almost generic issues.

But rather than asking new members to sift through threads which are 200 pages long (such as the audio system thread and so on), a quick reply with suggestions on search words, thread names to search etc would be very helpful.

If the info already exists, I totally agree that typing the same info again is a waste of time, but pointers would really help rather than just sayign STFF.

Try STFF to find info about the auto close feature of the W203's when you press and hold down the remote control, without knowing key words such as 'summer convenience feature'.

Know what I mean?

STFF is to find the old thread and asking the same question is fine... JUST USE THE OLD THREAD...

you all take this site too seriously. it is sad that i have decided to become a member of the "other" site because the people here are completely laughable. someone is always trying to be right or put someone else down at the end of the day this is just another car forum making money off all of us logging in every single day i only come here out of habbit now because i have my browser set up to open up 6 websites every time i open it one day when im not lazy i will remove the site when im not lazy and it is going to be bye bye mbworld. smh nobody even reps mbworld anyway. the "other" forums has so much more unity and people reppin the site when was the last time you seen an mbworld sticker on someone's car? as kat williams would say...."NOT NEVER!" and if you do the sticker is at least 3-4 years old.

MY FINAL THOUGHTS HOWEVER ARE:
if you don't want to give an answer don't even say search the forum. it is like **** blocking just because you don't want to answer the question doesn't mean you have to frown upon it and throw in your two cents and potentially get people to feel like not answering because 2minutes after someone post someone decides to yell STFF.

Sad to see so many of the posters on this thread have left the site. Damn, I'm old!

paypaboi - since this site doesn't endorse stickers, I don't understand why anyone would want to rep them anyway. If that's their attitude about the issue, I don't think that they really deserve free advertising on anyone's car, honestly.

my point exactly tommy. thats why i had said mbworld is now just a site that is here and gets paid when we log in but they don't give a dammn anymore. when was the the last mbworld meet? ........ "Don't worry.....I'll wait"...... thats because there hast been one. in september however there will be something hitting car enthusiast that is going to kick the passion back up and take the car world to the old days with a nice dosage of competition and rivalry to go around to keep everyone tuned in and excited.

I always try and help if I stumble across something I may know the answer. I figure since everybody was nice and was willing to answer my questions when I 1st joined why not return the favor?? but then again I always used the search function to try and get the answers myself

All very sad The 203 forum has excellent members generally that are technically astute & capable of helping many. There is a wealth of info on this forum but the search function does not work well for a noob. It's hard to know how to filter a search or what key words to use. We need to remember we were all noobs. Some like myself only a year back almost to the day.

While I hate generalising - If you think think the 203 forum is bad try the 204 forum. Generally a bunch of status seeking, ignorant ******* that talk crap. You really have to sort the wheat from the chaff there.

I'm a member of the OTHER board - Made a few posts but that's not my space. I find MBWorld more international & informative.

Let's delete STFF from our vocabulary - Pool our joint experience & help people. If you are tired of helping then stand back & shut up. There is always new blood prepared to take over. You can be a huge help just by directing people around the forum.

I miss Saprissa's enthusiasm since he moved back to Germany & became a mod. It's good to see Buell posting again & we have many reliable members like FrankW, splinter & mleskovar to name but a few that never tire of helping.

Noobs welcome to ask any question. Anything seems easy when you know how. If you don't know it's a minefield.

Glyn you named some pretty reputable people but YOU are the only one I will ever take my hat off to. YOU are the ONLY one to answer ANY question and you NEVER have a smart remark.

+1

I have to agree 100%. I have never ever felt 1 single drop of negativity from Glyn. I have never seen Glyn put down anyone on this forum. We should all learn from Glyn. Also we have to agree that the search feature isn't all that. Also sometimes people don't have time to search thousands of info and a straight forward answer is all they are looking for.

Let's be a little mellow because we all have posted questions that could have been searched.

What only pisses me off is when people join and get an answer and leave the community. They post a question and once they get their answer you never see them till they run into another problem.

Right - enough smoke blowing guys - back to business.

It would be nice & we should encourage posters to return to the forum after help & advise us of the outcome. That would boost the usefulness of the forum.

I'm locking this thread because this was posted prior to ALL the cleanup I did a few years back, which again MANY of the new members have absolutely NO clue about what I did to clean up this forum (add stickies w/ links to great information threads, merge multiple threads asking questions with the same answers, etc.). In fact, it's probably gotten so messy with 10 million "what kind of bulbs should I get" threads again that the search function is probably not pulling up as accurate results as needed (although, part of that may be due to other reasons as well). It would probably take me even longer to try and clean up the w203 message board again.

Thanks for using the search function, but this thread is pointless and serves no purpose for improving the quality of the forum and particularly the w203 forum.
