how hard is the 271 timing chain to 'inspect'

C230 COUPE 2003 M271
how hard is the 271 timing chain to 'inspect'

it looks like a ***** of a job to do compared to my old single can volkswagen with an external rubber belt. any diy on inspection and bad vs good pictures of cams and chains.

car is an 03 with no noticable rattle at start. I always used mobil1 0w-40 at time i bought it they said it was a chain that would never fail. a non service item

Easy. Pop the valve cover. Turn the motor clockwise using the crank bolt, chain should remain tight across the upper guide.
Search this forum for my thread "chain pics" for some images.
The chain job isn't as bad as it's made out to be...did it in one afternoon...

Or just drive the thing and be done with it. 270XXX miles with the original chain on an 05 M271..
