*URGENT* 2002 Mercedes C240 RWD - Suspension maintenance *URGENT*

Hey everyone,

Thanks for everyone's help in the past. I know there are various posts about this but I wanted your first hand opinion.

I currently own a 2002 Mercedes C240 RWD that is in pretty decent condition (300,000km). Body wise it is starting to rust out however, once again my front suspension require maintenance. Fuel pump just went and it is at a specialty shop. Here's what is required to be replaced:

Front Lower Control Arm Left
Front Lower Control Arm Right
Front Thrust Arm Left
Front Thrust Arm Right
Rear Left Ball Joint
Right Ball joint.

The only decent brand I can find is Lemforder. My mechanic says nothing but OEM will last, however he would install aftermarket (lemforder) parts if I buy them but he mentions they will not last. What are your previous experiences with these parts, how long will they last? In the end, buying aftermarket will probably save me $500+.

Also I would like to know where I can buy Lemforder Thrust Arms as I can not seem to find these parts anywhere. I typically use www.rockauto.com and many sites don't know what Thrust arms are.

Am I better to save up and buy OEM? In this case I would have to also purchase upper control arms because the current ones are Lemforder. Let me know what you think is the best option, I do want to keep the car.

ps. all in all I'm looking at about $1000 aftermarket lemforder, $2200+ OEM

Regards,

Marco

I purchased the front control arms for my CLK from partsgeek.com (So did Rudeney) used all Lemfoerder parts.
Did it myself in May, had MB align and check it afterwards. No issues.
Upper and lower control arms were ~$400 shipped

get the lemfoerder. they actually make the oem parts and are just as good. to be honest on a car that the original lasted 300k its not like you are aiming to get another 300k. personally i would go even cheaper than that but that is good you want good parts in your car only.

I believe the 'thrust arm' they are talking about is actually the upper control arm. my dealer called it a 'torque strut'

Lemfoerder is the OEM for 2 of the 4 front arms, on the non-AWD cars at least. If they're OEM for 2 arms, in my books they're good for the other arms. Just go with them and save a few bucks. I just had all 4 front arms replaced this year with Lemforder, and the steering is nice and tight. High quality stuff.
