2007 C230 Overheating help.
Just the other day I took the car out and out of no where the temp gauge shot up and the coolant level warning light came on, also the A/C began blowing hot. I shut the car off let it cool down then drove it to my destination. I haven't had much time to look at it but I did not notice the cooling fan spinning when the gauge went up.
Could this be a bad cooling fan?? What should I check? Could the sensor cause the fan not to kick on and it to overheat?
Thanks

I started it up the other day and let it idle with the A/C on and the temp gauge went up again and so did the coolant warning light. I did not notice the fan spinning. and the A/C was blowing hot.
Everything before this working fine. Any ideas where I should start?
Thanks
I would take the belt off and see what the water pump feels like as well as check your coolant system out if you haven't already.
You said the fan was not spinning when this initially happened right but how fast were you driving would you say? If you were moving at any decent speed the car shouldn't be overheating. That said the fan could have gone bad plus another issue.
Any CEL besides the error about coolant?
Also any issues in the past with this car? How many miles and what maintenance has been done recently.

Have you checked your coolant level? Did you check under the hood when the car was getting warm to see if coolant was boiling in the reservoir (which would indicate the engine is hot) or did you check to see if the coolant is actually flowing?
As far as the link 1054boston provided, unless you have access to ALLDATA PRO you won't be able to see anything but an error message.
