ok for us w203 drivers here is a dilema i needed your help with!!
we all know the current 04.5 sports have the updated exterior..and of this week we are sure of the 2005 C's w the nice interior updates!! but in about 1 year the w204 redisigned C is going to be released..i am driving a 01 320 right now and although a lateral move i wanted to pick up the 2004.5 C..i then realized the 2005 will be released in 2-3 months so i decided to wait for this 05 C..now it is also to my knowledge that in 2006 the w204 will be released..have you guys heard anything about this new w204? all i know its completely redesigned!! now here is the tuff part..should i buy the 2005 C knowing the 2006 will come out? please help guys..i cant wait another year!! i either buy a 2005 or try to wait for the 2006 but thats in a year!!!

 

Wait. If you don't like the new style you can always get a left-over at dirt cheap prices.

New model will likely be improved in every objective way. You can always still buy the older style while left on dealer lots, and there is nothing worse than having buyer's remorse if you end up loving the 2006 C.

 

you think the W204 will be out in about a yr?

i guess the revised interior will have AT LEAST 2 yrs of life before being phased out by the W204..

but well..i got sick of C sedan..they aged faster than the 3 series!

Yep. The W203 came out in 2001 (Oct 2000) . So add that by 6 you get 2007 (Oct. 2006).

 

Oh well... I guess I can extend my lease for three more months and I should be able to get a first year W204, which kind of scares me, but hey there's not much I can do

 

i didnt say that sedan are not nice...its just my opinion that i got sick of them because theres soooooooooooooooooooo many around...

but again, lets not dig up the debate btw coupe and sedan..its just personal opinion

I don't think anyone knows for sure yet, but you can be sure MB will be under a lot of pressure for a newer model once the new 3 series comes out next year (particularly if Bangle isn't given free reign to screw it up).
What I've read so far (which isn't much) has the new W204 model being a 2007 model coming out in 2006.

 

The W202 had a 7 year lifecycle (94-00) with a facelift in the 5th year (98). If the same is true for the 203, then the lifecycle would be 7 years (01-07) with a facelift in the 5th year (05).

Based on this logic (which could certainly be flawed) it seems the new C-Class 204 would not be sold until MY08. Also, I doubt MB would replace the car 1 year after the facelift. Why bother with a facelift if it only lives 1 year? So, I would vote to get the MY05.

 

If you need it, buy the devil you know. The W204 is a gamble, quality-wise and style wise. The 203 has problems, but at least they've had three years to take corrective actions.

Something "more enticing" is always around the corner. That's why I keep stuff for a LONG time. computer: 5-8 years. Car: 15+ years. Get off the treadmill. It's good for the soul

 

The Coupe will age better than the sedan. Its a more unique shape. I have to agree that the C240 sedan looks a little stale, although the sport editions C230 and C320 still look reasonably fresh. The 05 refresh is perfectly timed.

And the next Coupe is already in the planning stages- same as with the next sedan. MB isn't going to walk away from another 75thousand units a year, built on established engineering(but sleeker sheetmetal). Its all about economies of scale...the CLK, the C sedans, the C wagons, and the Coupe are all of the same DNA. So suck on it.
