Unhappy Oily Residue in Radiator Reservoir

I currently own a C240 4MATIC (2003 Model). I notice that my radiator reservoir has some oily and brownish residue in it. I took it to the shop and was told it was the oil cooler and spent a reasonable amount 'fixing' it. Just 6 hours later and the same is back. I really need help here. Also new to this forum.

Did you change the engine oil cooler or transmission radiator?

Oily Residue in Radiator Reservoir

Its the engine oil cooler well it was either a faulty one or the issue is with the transmission radiator most of the times people misdiagnose the color of the oil , but in your case i believe its the transmission oil cooler which is the radiator , i advise you to not move the car and get it fixed as soon as possible. Also double check the mechanic did a full flashing for the system cause that oil you saw after 6 hours could be the residue still in the engine .

Is that photo for real? That looks like someone puked all over the reservoir.

Did you check to see which radiator (Valeo = bad, Behr = good) was installed in your car?

As the others have mentioned, stop driving the car immediately, before you trash the transmission.

Well, am certainly a happy guy now. It turned out to be the Oil Cooler. They replace it with a used one and only made it worse. It started leaking water into the engine oil. I had it drained and a different cooler installed. Its been 4 days now and my car is purring nicely. Thanks for the comments and guidance. You guys rock!!
