2002 W203 C180 Battery Drain

Hi Guys

Been diagnosing a battery drain problem with the help of Glyn. Just want to post my findings for those who might run into the same issues. I have yet to put the car on diagnostics. Battery drain is originating from fuse 42. 0.80A drain when locked and off. 0.14A with the fuse removed.

Not sure how much I can investigate further without diagnostics. The car worked in a dry dusty area and I see some posts on dirty ECU connections. Also read about instrument cluster failure. Looking scary at the moment!

Any aftermarket electronics fitted?
.14 ampere is still too high. Usually they drop to around 40ma

Did you try disconnecting it? Does it work from the steering wheel buttons? I have seen CAN bus interfaces for after market radios preventing the bus from going to sleep
