Hello why do I need to drive around 150 miles after check engine light repair before I smog it?

2014 E350 also restored: 1969 Camaro convertible SS 1957 Chevy Belair 2dr hardtop

After resetting. it take about 150 miles for it to not show up that you reset for codes. If you go to emission place it will show up that you reset for codes and you will fail. They need to have system clear to pick up codes and that takes about 150 miles of driving.
