2003 C230, #2 Misfire.
Hello all,
C230, 2003. The rough idle issues of my past have come back recently but worse. Several years ago, approx 2011, I replaced the camshaft sensors followed by cleaning the harness with electronic spray. Eventually it was cleaned. I replaced the O2 sensors around the same time. Cleaned throttle body, new MAF, spark plugs, and at the time what I thought could be a problem coil.
Rough idle has been gone for a loooong time but now it's back and very different from what I've encountered before. Instead the rough idle comes right after my car has warmed up and the #2 misfires. I can get it to reset by shutting the car off and restarting. I've used Techron plenty. When I look into the cylinders I can see that there is carbon build up on the piston heads. The most recent thing I've done is replace spark plugs again, replaced the #2 fuel injector, and replaced the fuel filter. When I didn't see results I used the CRC intake valve cleaner. I'm still getting the misfire. Today, I was listening closely and believe that I'm hearing a tapping noise.
Any suggestions? This forum has been helpful in my troubleshooting. It's how I've managed to come this far in the last five years.
