Question EIS/ESL/ECU failure

Hi, all,
I had a problem with the EIS/ESL or ECU(SRS) on my C180K W203 2004 model. The key wouldn't turn when I insert the key, I tried the spare key doesn't work either. The key is able to unlock the doors, just not able to turn in the ignition. The ESL doesn't respond when I inserted the key, however, it will lock the steering column when I remove the key (I did manually turn the ESL motor to unlock the steering column, and when I remove the key it locks the steering again).
It happens when I was trying to fix the SRS problem on the car, and I removed the SRS ECU from the car. The problem (key not able to turn) did not happen immediately until I drove the car for 5 days after the SRS ECU removed.
Does anyone had any suggestions what shall I do next? I really don't want send the car to MB workshop cause the hour rate is very high in this country. Any help would be highly appreciated.

BR

SRS has nothing to do with EIS. You need read faults and look at actual values

Hi, Russell
Thanks for your prompt reply, I tried Autel AutoLink AL619 to connect to the car, but since the ignition is not switched on, I can't build up the communication to the car.

You don't need ign to be on to get comms with EIS. Just open close drivers door before you enter the system to wake up the BUS. Best to use star on EIS

It seems open/close drivers door didn't help for the communication to the BUS by using AL619, nor do I have star diagnostic tool :/

Sorry for the late reply, I had to replace the EIS/ELV and the car back to life again. :P
