Where (on the car) would you position jack stands, assuming you are using the jacking points made for the jack that came with the car to lift it. Taking a quick look under there, I could not find any bare metal of the frame. Lots of plastic and rocker panel though, which I am sure would get crushed, mangled and split. I would like to get all four corners off the ground while I paint the calipers. Anyone do this without incident yet?

its funny u were thinking that i was told to do that from the place i bought the paint from. they said if i dont have all 4 wheels off the ground i will never be able to paint the caliers quick enough well obviously they were wrong, i had plenty of time. well back to your question i also looked under the car and tried to find a spot that i would put all 4 jack stand on but i could not find any so i then just used the standard MB jack and did one at a time. but since were not to sure maybe u would wanna call the dealer and ask or maybe even bring it to a simple place like tire kingdom they might know. maybe

Im sure you can just take it to a local autobody shop and they would do it. However, you should really consider doing it yourself. I did mine about 4 months ago using the G2 Kit and I am really lazy . It is really a piece of cake. Just buy the kit ($40) follow the instructions to mix it, jack your car up and take one wheel off at a time and paint 2 coats. Its really simple and it was a cool experience. Mostly because I dont know squat about cars and it was a great experience to see how much of a difference it made and that I did it.

But I'm sure an autobody shop would only charge you like a hundred bucks or so.

I was planning on having someone do it for me also, only all the places said they would spray paint it for 100 bucks and spary look like crap after a while.

When i painted my calipers it was the first time i ever took a wheel off a car in my life. And it was very easy. It was a good learning experience. Now i take my wheels off all the time to clean them.

ya exactly

thats basically why i dont really want to do it... Ive never taken a wheel off in my life either! And aside from that, I just have no confidence in myself, I'm sure I'll f*** something up. I know ZERO about cars. I'll probably end up just painting the shocks or something instead of the calipers. Trust me, I'm an idiot.

This thread is almost a year old at least so i really dont remember, If i did not mention it then i think i waited about 10 min, no longer. Alot of people may say to wait longer but u definitly dont need to. 10 min is plenty. I may have gone back quicker on some.

the pics on the first page are pissing me off there so old. So here a bigger pic of my sig.

I waited 20-30 minutes for the first coat to dry and that was plenty. That stuff drys real quick when it hits the caliper. Actually, immediatly after the second coat I went ahead and put the wheel back on just being careful that it didnt touch and went on to the next. I have 18 inch wheels so they cleared the caliper by at least an inch or so. Just make sure not to drive it for at least a day to let the paint settle and dry. I wish I had a camera or I'd take pics as mine look flawless.

Let me know if you have anymore questions. I'd love to help

BlackC230Coupe: Looks pretty sweet.

I work at G2, so I'll see if I can get Mbworld.org members some kind of discount if there is anyone else that is looking to paint their calipers.

My boss is out of the office until next week, so it'll be a little bit before I get to talk to him.

Check out www.tirerack.com They are selling them for $38. They should have every color in stock and they also have excellent customer service.

We usually do not pull the calipers to paint but sometimes it's necessary to do the job right.
