Painted my Brake Calipers Red today!
I painted my brake calipers red today using the G2 paint. it took about 3 and a half to 4 hours to do. Luckly i was able to finish it in one day because once u mix the reactor in u only have 4 hours to work right now i have half the can left but its completly hardened. well here are some pics. my digital camera battery died in the middle so i could not take a pic from a distance with all the wheels put on. so here are some pics of some wheels done and some pics of me in the process.

I am going for Red
I have Orion Blue and I ordered the Red paint. The Blue paint probably would not be a good match, so I thought the red was a good contrast, plus a lot of factory painted calipers usually get red paint. Porsche and Ferrari comes to mind.

Xenon Headlights on my C230???
I noticed that user blackc230coupe mentioned in the profile of his car that he has Xenon headlights??? I purchased a black C230 Coupe as well and I was told that Xenons were not an option on this car to keep price down. I would really like to have these headlights as I have driven with them in other cars and find them not only VERY attractive but very useful in improving visibility as well. If these are aftermarket Xenons where did you get them and how much??? Thanks so much

hm...
Stage I: $550
Stage II: $750
I think you should wait for the next groupbuy and get a better price, also I think someone found stage II Xenon Headlights for $400.
you can chec this thread for more info : https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...0&pagenumber=2

MBWorld Fanatic!
Read some more posts before you go to HID4less. Some unhappy campers. The price of Xenon kits have come way down. You can get them for about $400 all over e-bay for what we call Stage 1 or 2. The difference is the stage 1 is a 4300K bulb and stage 2 is a 6000K bulb and the ballasts are a little different. I would go with 6000K bulb because that's what you are probably expecting, the bright white light with blue or purple fringe around the edges.
The bulbs seem to be made by Phillips, Osram or Hella and the ballasts seem to be made by Panasonic, Hella and Phillips. I haven't seen any reviews comparing the different setups so until I do they are all the same. I would stay with a brand name you trust and if you can get it locally that's best. A lot of ricer shops carry them. Or you can get the MB factory lights for about $1,300 from autoclass.net and throw those in. That would provide you with piece of mind and not void your warranttee coverage.

yeah, thanks. It would be better to see from a distance with the whole car in the frame. Afterall, that's the way most people see it anyway.

I'm diggng the calipers
I have looked at these pics a bunch, and I am pretty sure I'm gonna have to paint mine (if the car ever gets here). It's Magma Red with C7s, so I'm betting it will look good too. I'd still like to see a good shot of the entire car to see how they look from a distance. I like 'em BlackC230Coupe!

Out Of Control!!
Hey, black, got a question for ya.
I'm going to do my crx's calipers (don't think the blue or the red would look good with my Orion), and am a little concerned about what you experienced, ie, the paint hardening. Because what I'll be doing is fronts, both coats, then let them dry, then rears same. Do you think that the best thing to do would be to halve the paint and reactor, then mix it in halves, so that I don't have to be concerned about the paint hardening in between the fronts and the rears? From my first reading of the instructions, you need to allow the calipers to dry somewhat before you put the wheels back on. TIA!
Komp - yes, they give you everything you need, including a brush and a can (see first pic) of cleaner. Pretty nice kit, actually.

Prep is easy, you car is new, they give you a spray can of brake cleaner. I painted the front, then did the back and using the car jack, one at a time. Give it about half hour and then put second coat. Put the wheel back on and let it sit over night. Then go to gooooo.
After four months, still look like new.

Been there, done that...much less time and money
Motor on down to the AutoZone, etc. and buy a spray can of high temp engine paint for about $5. Turn the can upside down and press the valve down until all the propellant is gone. Clean your calipers thoroughly with Super Clean, etc. Shake the can well then pry off the top and use an artist brush to paint at your leasure. You can put on several coats before the paint in the can will start to harden. I have done several cars this way. It stays glossy and does not come off even after 1000;s of miles.

tommy- I think for the best look of the paint i would use all the reactor and all the paint at the same time. but its worth a try maybe it will come out perfect with half the reactor and half the paint it will probolly be ok. and u can put the wheels on right when your done painting the caliper. i dont know why it said to wait but i did see it in the instructions but i dont get it the wheel does not touch the caliper.
so i would definitly put the wheel on rigth when u finish.
if u think u will be able to do it all in 4 or maybe 5 hours then use all the paint and reactor. after 5 hours the paint will gte sticky and hard to work with.

Out Of Control!!
Thanks!
Well, if you don't have to wait before putting the rims back on, that should be no biggie, then. I'll just use the whole shootin' match at once.
CRX calipers are pretty small, so it shouldn't take very long to do them.
Thanks again.
