Aux harness installation OEM part vs 12 pin

Hello,

I have 2006 c230 w203 and I'd like to install aux cable. I've read several threads and found that most people order an OEM 2104405005 part, however there is also a 12 pin aux adapter, like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1, which is also said to be compatible. I do understand installation procedure for an OEM part, just wondering have anyone had an experience installing a 12 pin one? Does it go directly to multimedia unit?

Thanks

The part you are referring to goes into a plug just under the trim on passenger side. There are several great DIYs.

Even better, you can make it totally wireless with a Bluetooth dongle!

Are you referring to 4 pin adapter installation, like this:
? can you point where does the 12 pin adapter go, which trim on passenger side?

I believe the 12 pin adapter actually goes behind the radio head unit, which is a nightmare to remove. I'd stick to the 4 pin adapter in the video.

Thanks, yes that's what I'm thinking as well.

I was just wondering why those 12pin aux adapters are so popular and says it compatible with w203, I honestly haven't found any DIY on the web on it.

Maybe because the 12 pin goes into radio head unit and gives the appearance of a clean oem install. But the horrible experience of taking apart the dash. Plus the 4 pin is a clean install too, and there is even a precut hole in the glove box for the female plug!

BTW, in the 2006 cars there may not be a harness under the kick panel, if I remember correctly it's a hit or miss. Might want to check if it's there and then decide which wire to buy.
