BAS warning light
Taken car back three times to Mercedes dealer for BAS warning light. They replaced the brake light switch because error code pointed to this....several weeks later the BAS light came on again. Again computer pointed to brake light switch (computer code)....so they replaced it again...now it came on the 3rd time several weeks later...if you turn the car off it will turn off by itself...then come back on in a week or so....the dealer said this time the computer did not retain any errors codes and they think it might be the ESP sensor or rear SAM...but they themselves cannot for any certainty know which part it is. They released the care back to me...The car has no other symptoms except the bas warning light coming on. My question or concern is that could it still be a faulty brake light switch i.e. they received a bad batch of switches...I think this because there are no any other symptoms i.e. cannot take out of park, etc. ...The ESP sensor and SAM are way more expensive parts than the brake light sensor... Please advise...Could a faulty light switch also prevent computer from producing an error code?

The problem is that MB does\will not reimburse it's dealers for parts that were suspect but not faulty---if they did every ***** and Igor would be changing parts for no reason just to get the customer out of their shop---sad situation.
Regarding a batch of brake light switches being bad--with today's six sigma quality controls that is very unlikely!-----welcome to the new age of auto electronics!!
