I've always had this issue and figure it's just how RWD or RWD mercedes work...

I've owned ml55, drove my friends ml55 3## and 4## and they don't do it (mind you AWD)

But my ex's c240 and my current c32, when your going anything over 0 mph (1-3mph?) in reverse and you pop it into drive it jerks forward like the car stops going backwards instantly .

is this just how RWD works or am I missing something else?

I've owned maximas, rwd ford ranger and they never did this. you can be going backwards and shift to drive and it doesn't jerk forward. it doesn't go forward until you press the gas.

I find with c class you have to be going 0 mph and on brake then can shift to drive or reverse.

why is this? thanks

It's not the way they work----remove the conductor plate and clean shifting solenoids and when doing so change all the springs!!

I actually thought of one , do you have the removal of the cylinder head and head gaskets?
