How many W203 Wagons were sold in the USA?
I have a friend who said he's only seen a few W-203 wagons like I have (I have to agree-in the 5 years I've had mine, I've seen only a few despite living in TX, AZ, and now WA). He wondered how many wagons like mine were even sold here.
Anyone know about how many wagons were imported/sold in the US? I googled it but no references.
I know they must have been a relative "flop" given they didn't even import the W-204 wagon, and discontinued sales early on the W-203. In other pars of the world, I guess folks like wagons more. Probably SUVs killed wagon sales here.
That said, I absolutely LOVE my W-203 wagon, and can't think what I'd replace it with I'd like as much. BMW eliminated their e34 5 Series wagon like I once had, and though BMW still makes 3-Series wagons, they are rarer than hens' teeth.

Interesting, I found this from MB's US station wagon sales manager commenting on the E_Class wagon in 2014:
What are the demographics of the E-Class wagon buyer?
It’s definitely one of our wealthiest demographics. Compared to the E-Class sedan, which is about $200,000 median household income, the E-Class wagon is about $375,000. Some of these buyers grew up in an E-Class wagon and feel nostalgic. They value it for their children, wanting their kids to be in the same car that they were in.
