almost stranded

I drove my C240 from work about 20 miles with no problems, and after I stopped at my favorite donuts shop to get the number one artery clogging agent, the car would not start. It cranks for seconds and stops, I tried this about ten times before I removed the key and cleaned both optical ends using my finger. The car started. I don't know whether what i did fixed the problem or was it coincidental and the problem might still exist....

Sounds like your crankshaft position sensor is starting to go. My G500 was doing things similar to that until it went completely out. Pretty easy fix, and we never got a check engine light just would fire up.

Check your fuel pressure. My fuel gauge stated that I had a half of tank of gas but when I checked the fuel pressure no fuel came out. After replacing my crankshaft sensor first and still no start I ended up replacing my fuel pump because the sending unit was not reading correctly. I checked my fuses and relays also hoping for a quick and cheap fix.

Upon removal of both pumps I found out that I didnt have any gas in the car.....lol
