C230 or C240??

Sorry if this has been discussed previously, but I recently helped a friend get into a 04 C240. While she got a really good deal on the car, a 1,000 miles later she told me she thought the car was sluggish, but once it got going it was fine. I did some research and learned that the C230K had much better performance numbers HP 189 TQ 192 VS 168 and 177 for the C240 with the 6 cylinder. It appears that the C230K was the better buy, and its a few thousand cheaper. Is there something I'm missing??? Thanks!

bone stock E55 AMG
u r right...
most ppl purchase C230K cuz of price and performance.
those who are more interested in C240 usually go for C320 for more power...
i thought about buying C230K, but i wanted V6 regardless of HP and wanted wood trim.
ur friend's car should be fine if she doesn't drive like a cab driver...

As mentioned before, the C240 is a nice car, just a little underpowered. However, for the customer wanting a smoother ride and a more luxurious feel, it is the correct choice. Of course the C230 is a bit cheaper and a better fit for more of a driving enthusiast, however, there are several features which the traditional customer may not want to deal with. Foremost are the mixed size low profile summer tires and the lowered suspension. The sport sedan will require winter tires in just about any snow conditions and the MY04.5 requires 17" snows as the 16" will not fit over the big front brakes.
