CD Changer Question

I just got a 2001 C320 a few weeks ago and I really need a cd player(I hate the radio). Currently I have the in-dash tape player. It is the nice one with the motorized flip down face for the tape. I have seen that there is an Audio 10 CD player. Is it a better quality deck than the one I have or would I be better off just getting the MB CD changer that goes in the glove box? Also, which CD changer do I need to get? The one that is Model # MC3198, P/N 002-820-79-89 or and Model # MC3010, P/N 203-820-90-89. Thanks.

Do a search for audio 10 and you will get your answer. It's a very clean sounding cd player. Or you can upgrade to teh COmand Nav system which is a pretty easy swap

I have the install info for a CD if you want it

The "listed" MB part number for the CD changer on your 01 C320 is A203 820 90 89. You will also need the bracket and proper fiber optic cable. If you want the install bulletin for the CD changer send me an e-mail address that can handle greater than 2MB attachments and I will send it to you. You have to remove the radio to install the CD changer. I have the WIS for that as well ... let me know if you want it also.

Can you control the MP3 changer with the stock radio? How about the buttons on the wheel, do they work with it? Which brand did you get? How was the install?

I don't think it will work

The fiber optic network on the new "E" (2003+) is different and uses different connectors. It is called MOST and I don't believe it is compatible with D2B. It runs at a higer data transmission rate and uses different optical connectors.

I got the JVC CH-X1500RF.

You control it with the Display controller that comes with the changer, i.e. changing disc or tracks. It also comes with a card type wireless remote, makes things even simplier. You can still use the volume button on the wheels. Pretty much it wont affect your stock head unit at all. I have it installed at a pro shop.

The installation wasnt too bad. About 2 hours.
