Scared to touch a benz?!?!

I have a set of H&R Springs which I would really like to have installed on my '03 C240. I have gone to every shop in town (small town, but still about 5 shops) and everyone is gung ho about lowing something until I tell them it is a Benz. At that point they have all told me to get lost and good luck. One mechanic even told me I lived in the wrong part of the country to have a benz worked on (Stillwater, Ok). Is there really something so magical about the suspension on my car that justifies everyone being so scared to work on it?

Gosh I do not want to have to drive out of state just to get my springs installed.

hey just be thankful that they're admitting to being uncomfortable with working on your car. better that then them screwing your car up just to make a buck.

I know some places are "scared" to work on a benz because what i think is that if they mess something up, be it sensors, parts, etc, it would be expensive for them to cover the repairs and such, so thats why a lot of places won't touch MB's.

I went to a few shops to get my alarm installed and 90% of the places wouldn't touch MB because of their "complicated" wiring or systems, that they fear if they mess something up, it's going to cost them to fix it.

oh right on...i appriciate them backing out if they are skeptical...I am just wondering if there is something specifically weird about the suspension on the car that i don't know about and that is why they are backing out.

I don't think there's anything "weird" about the suspension system in the C. It's just conventional springs and shocks. Nothing like the MB's with ADS and the air suspension setup, so it's pretty simple to change the springs. I think its just the shops don't want the liability and trouble if something does go wrong.

Have you tried asking the dealer (may be a lil more expensive if no shop is willing to do it).

I did mine myself with help from my brother. Cup Kit... Took about 4 hours.
Just gotta have the right tools.

Try the dealer, going to be more expensive, but they won't mess it up.
Make sure you check the spring pad in the back and write down the part number from it just incase you aren't happy with how the rear sits. You can always go back and re-adjust the height on the rear using these pads.
