Talking It's on the way!

Greetings-

I've been following this group since I ordered my c230k on January 27th, and today I got word from the dealer that assembly was complete and the car would ship soon. The dealer said that it would take approx 4 weeks to arive here in Detroit, is that a typical shipping time? Maybe I'm a little impatient.

At any rate I'd just like to say that I think the sharing of information in this forum is great, and I hope to be a frequent contributor.

Don't be too impatient, savor the moments, it makes the arrival of your new baby that much better!

I just stopped by my dealership on the way home from a late night at the office and found mine tucked in the back with a big "SOLD" sign on the dash! It's been seven (yes, seven) very long months since I placed my order on 9/1/01 and it has finally arrived!

I will be picking it up on Friday afternoon (taking some time off work) and giggle the entire way home !

I joined the post back in early March and also find the info valuable (even some of the banter between members can be entertaining).

I believe MB-Bob had some details on a previous post as to what should be expected for "realistic" shipping and arrival dates.

flattop, you waited seven months? Why did it take so long?

Lynn,

When I placed my order back in 09/01, I was told by my sales rep about the leather problems and knew that if I was getting this car it had to have leather. The rep said it would be at least four months which I felt was fair since she was upfront about it. Also I believe that I had a future allocation vehicle.

New Mexico has one dealer. I found out from my rep that not many other dealers are willing to trade out with the units my dealer receives. The first round of cars delivered only contained one Magma Red and the rest were either silver or black with mostly autos. I still haven't seen a car with C7 and all the inventory on the lot today have cloth (which is not a bad thing) but I wanted leather. The only different car is a Capri Blue, but with nothing extra.

I also love to shift and didn't want a slusher. I test drove one and couldn't get used to the semi-manual shifting. It just didn't feel right. So to get what I wanted, I was willing to wait, and wait and wait. And now it's here!

Best part is, I have been able to stockpile a huge down payment and won't have much to finance.

I enjoy your posts and will load pics as soon as I can.

It must have been a future allocation, at least two quarters in the future. I was lucky. I ordered my car on Aug 15th, and it arrived Oct. 29th. As I posted before, the sales reps at my dealer would smile and laugh whenever I mentioned a delay due to hoof and mouth or mad cow.

The dealer in Ann Arbor is telling me my car will be built on April 20th (a Saturday? Huh? Maybe "the week of..."? I guess I need to call back) and should be here Mid-May. So, it would seem they figure it will take around 4 weeks for shipping too.
