USA with Buzzer
I searched for an answer to this and didn't find any particular clear ones. I called my local Mercedes Benz dealership and asked if they could hook a car up to a STAR diagnostic system to enable the USA with Buzzer feature. They said if the car did not do it before, it cannot be programmed to do such. Are they full of sh*t as per usual?
Thanks.

Each car has default menu settings for a given car model, based on country of sale and possibly trim configuration. For example, in Canada, the DRL option is set to "on" as required by law. Without the STAR there is no way to turn off DRL at all. My lights (including headlights) all stay on even though the switch is turned to 0, but cars sold in USA don't do this.

Very few dealerships have techs who are acually knowledgeable with telematics/STAR. When I upgraded to Comand head unit I went down to the dealer and asked them to set comand to present and activate nav on cluster..after a whole day with the car they said it couldn't be done...
Spent $300 online and bought my own Star setup, took me 15 min to do it.
Even now, with access to STAR and EPC, I've schooled a tech or two at the parts counter....

RWD, do you remember where to set comand present and nav on cluster?
I still haven't coded mine, keep forgetting about this. (BTW, have you figured how to get live engine data in STAR? I am starting to suspect it does not support that...)
Yeah, those highly-knowledgeable techs don't give a sh*... Once had to demonstrate to a Service Advisor how to remove the front engine cover from M271 (the small plastic one over the cam solenoids).
EPC is now subject to a $75 yearly fee...

Control units>>info/comm>>audio/video>>COMAND>>retrofitting MOST>>F2 restart of ring>>F2 actual config>>F3 write to master
Use the diagram attached to set your configuration based on what you have, example Comand-amp-phone-changer-Comand
For Nav in cluster:
control units>>info/comm>>ICM>>control unit adaptations>>version coding>>optional equipment>>F3>>F5 to save changes>>F3 transfer coding to contol unit
I've copied from a notebook I use to make notes when coding, I don't think I skipped any steps but make sure it makes sense as you go.
I'll post the path for live data, didn't write it down for some reason but it's friggin awesome the info you get.
