Star DAS menu paths for mods (pre-facelift W203)

I'm wondering if someone with experience with the Mercedes Star Diagnostic computer can shed some light on this. There are other threads floating around online but these menus seem to change depending on the year and definitely the platform.

In particular I am looking for these paths for a pre-facelift (2001-2004) W203 C-class.

1) remove speed limiter
2) show litres remaining in fuel tank
3) enable directional fogs when turning

Any other mods people can recommend?

I've been unable to reach Sunman or Karo, who seem to be the most knowledgeable members here based on my attempts to search. Thanks in advance.

The speed limiter I have no clue on. Karo knows how to do that.

The fuel tank one is not to hard but sadly some cars can't do it but think your car should be new enough. I will see if I can dig up the PDF.
same for the fog lights but I could also not do it on my car.

If you have some free time soon would like to bring my car over again to see if any new error codes came up since you cleared them out of my car.

Thanks.

I had one setting changed, when I lock and unlock my car, it now beeps which is cool. Would be nice to see a list of common mods people make to see what all can be done.

So you would need STAR DAS software and plug in to make these changes to the car or could it be accomplished through Command?

I keep hearing that something needs to be done before getting to the ESP part but i cant seem to find any instructions. Also i have a 2007 C280 4MATIC. This is a simple one when you know the trick.

1/ enable tyre warning in the EIS
2/ menu now appears in the ESP.
3/ enable the warning in ESP
4/ now you must remove key from ignition totally
5/ put key back in
6/ reset cluster in actuations or code something again.
7/ drive 60 miles or 100km
8/ enable warning in cluster menu behind odometer

Yeah this one is undocumented and only works 2002 and later.

Turning lamps requires 2005 front fuse box.

Volume in tank on old cluster requires you to switch OFF one of the registers noted as "tank info" because the show and don't show are both active. When you disable the "don't show" the information is visible.

The hard part was working out that you needed to fiddle with the key and then perform cluster actuations. But it was rewarding to achieve this back in 2004.

I've been playing around a bit on my 03 C320 tonight as well, successfully got the gallon reading to display although the PDF's above dont help for that, the poster directly above mentioned coding one setting to off and that is correct, I wish I had seen this thread first! I'm still working on enabling the tire pressure loss warner, but its different from the C280 I did the other night.

on my 2003, when you find the two settings in variantkoderung warst......whatever that start with "bild" one is going to have "ohne tankinfo" (without), the other "und tankinfo" turn the first one off and leave the second one enabled.

I dont have it in front of me as im typing this otherwise I'd give the exact description.

Setup your STAR with Teamviewer and I will do it from Australia over the internet. PM me your skype details and your preferred time slot and I will do my best. Maybe you can document the changes so that it becomes clearer.

Any way to program "AMG Speed Shift" which holds the current gear on the AT
when you are in manual mode until you decide to shift it?
Anyone in the Bay Area have Star?

Thanks benzmodz but I believe my problem is my ESP is too old, I have TPLW enabled in EIS but the menu still does not come up in ESP, my car is 02/03 production, my ESP is SW/HW versions of 26/02 and 27/02. I'm going to swing by Potomac German and snag a module off a later car and see if I cant get it to work that way.

So what other tricks you know about? link me PM me, whichever

That version of ESP is too old. They started to work around the same time the M271 came to town.

Other tricks
-------------
* Turning lamps with 2005+ front sam
* 2005 tail lights with both bulbs glowing on bottom row
* Update to MAPS fuel sensor by adding the extra wire
* Tyre pressure warning
* Volume in fuel tank
* Various NCAP enabling on cluster
* Paddle shift on 2003+ cars with EGS-2 (later version from 2005+)
* Enable tunnel mode on air conditioner (press recirculate for a long time and all windows close and vice versa)
* Date in cluster (2005+)
* Enable reversing mirror dip in cluster + install passenger side memory mirror frame
* Enable key dependence
* Make cluster unit time sync with GPS on/off (2005+)
* Enable speed limiter on engine controller and cluster + control stick hardware
* Chirping with alarm on lock (netherlands mode)
* AM/PM mode on clock display instead of 24 hour mode.
* Ignition timing by setting the RON value of the fuel.

Note that in countries with good fuel, the engine ignition is set far too late. You can sensibly adjust the minimum RON value to 93 (or near) and purchase RON 95-100. These small software changes make a difference to fuel economy and power. Totally reversible and easy to implement.

I personally never change the fuel load because it burns too much fuel and ruins the idle in most cases.

These are some of the options off the top of my head. Once you get into more hardware you can enable all the usual things like GPS, voice control, folding mirrors.

I just posted this in the other thread but I acquired a 2007 ESP module with the same part number as the car I was able to activate TPLW on, but still could not get it to display the monitor in that module.

I'd be for making a linked list with how to modify/code these options in a centralized location, My car is a 03 so that limits me somewhat. I've already done the gallons remaining and beep on locking confirmation changes.
