Shift Lever Assembly
I have a C240/ 2001 with 158,000 km and recently when driving in town the automatic transmission stuck in the second gear. Turning the engine off and starting it 5 minutes later transmission starts working normally.
But after a few days I have problems again and at this time I came back home with the transmission stuck in second gear. I was close to home!
The dealer ask me to change the gear lever shifter and shift lever assembly which are very expensive.
So I would like to know if some one have same kind of trouble and if what dealer is asking is the only option to fix my transmission?

I had the same problem and was asked $1300 to do it, did it myself for $130.

Make sure about the part numbers, dont just use the same than I had!
