Question Mud Flaps

Hello,

I'm looking to order a C230 Sports Coupe and I have a question. According to the MBUSA.COM web site there is an $107.00 option for dealer installed mud flaps on the C230 Sports Coupe. However, my local dealer says this isn't so, they don't exist (for the Sports Coupe).

Does anyone know the definitive answer?

I was thinking about it too for my c-coupe. The dealer gave me a price quote of $180 for four.

Splash guards....are due in 12/01 in the US. They screw to the inside lip of your wheel wells and look like cheesey black rubber with a silver tri-star. You'd do better by going to your local car parts boys and getting soft rubber ones that can be form fitted to your car with careful use of your girlfriend's hair dryer. That will cost you about $40 for the flaps, and a few expensive dates to make up for the hour she had to wait with wet hair.

mudflaps

If someone has already installed the splash guards. Please post a picture if you can because I was thinking of getting it done but my car is white and I thought the black rubber would make it look ugly. i have seen them on VW's and stand out (and not in a goodway)

Thanks in advance

MudFlap Picture

I don't know where the information about the mudflaps is coming from, but I bought a set from my dealer this summer and installed them myself. I don't know if you can see them in this picture against the black car, but they look fine and are molded to fit. I have also installed Mich. Pilot Alpins and chrome rims from tire rack.

I ordered the front pair only. $45.50. They came in and and they must have been for the AMG package since they did not quite fit the side skirt profile. When ordering, the parts guy asked If I had the wheel package, to which I said yes. He had part numbers with and without wheel package, but this probably means AMG evolution package(euro-version not available in US). If you have C7, the side skirt is the same as a non-C7 car so you need to order the standard flap.

These flaps have no MB Logo, black rubber, did not stick out that much at all , but they do drop down quite low. The new standard flaps due in tomorrow.

Well, I just ordered 6-6-52-8211 from clairparts.com

No pictures and the description has Sports Package in it. I wonder what I'll get?

BTW: Clair has added a few new Coupe parts to their website over the last few weeks. Including C7 wheels for $300 ea.

I wonder what you'll get too - the part number that turned out to be wrong for my car was 6-6-52-8205 (fronts only). I will post part number when I get the ones that fit right.

If anyone wants mud flaps for a C-Coupe (front pair only) I got them today. The part number is 6-6-52-8199, $45.50. They fit nicely, easy to install, and are barely noticeable. This part is the standard front set. Apparantly, weather you have C7 or not the Standard flaps are what you should get to fit properly.

I noticed Clair has Rubber mats under performance instead of protection. Does anyone know how much of a HP increase you get from the rubber mats?

While we're on the topic... I got winter mats from the local wholesale club for $15 fronts only. I think they're made by Kraco. They're universal, but fit my coupe great with no trimming. I could have trimmed a little around where the dead pedal area is, but I decided it didn't bother me enough. It would have bothered me more to pay $70 for the MB mats. Check 'em out if your a tight-@ss like me

Clair confirmed that 6-6-52-8211 is not the correct number for the coupe set. They changed my order to 6-6-52-8200 (rear) and 6-6-52-8199 (front).

The rear 6-6-52-8200 do not fit at all. See next post.

The front fit poorly. Not bad, but not real good either considering how well the rest of the car fits together.

dmichael, is this what your front flaps look like? Notice the gap around the rocker panel.

Either way, I'm returning the rears and won't seek a replacment because I don't think they're neccessary. The fronts- I'm still not sure about...

edit: PS- Please, no comments on the dirty car. If I had mud flaps, it'd stay clean at least until it leaves the driveway...

When you're right, you're right. Not picking on you avlis, but the fit just looks wrong. Glad that I dragged my feet long enough to see pics of someone else's car.

BTW: could that car be any dirtier? :p (sorry, couldn't resist)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure these aren't the right flaps for the coupe. They are designed for the sedan/wagon and we all know that the coupe doesn't share any sheet metal with those models.

The question remains: what IS the right part number for the coupe flaps

My front flaps look like your set pictured. I always thought they looked pretty good until you pointed out that gap at the rocker panel. I guess I did not look that closely when I installed them. It was on a weeknight, after dark, in low light conditions.

I got the correct flaps over the weekend. They are the ones I originally ordered: 6-6-52-8211. The Clair website is correct.

I only put the front ones on. Fit is great. These flaps are smaller than the sedan units and blend in nicely. You wont find smaller or less noticable flaps. If your tired of washing your C after going though a small puddle: get these flaps!

Ok! Ok! I'll post pics but you'll have to wait until later this evening. Until then, look at crvols' picture. He has the correct ones on. I didn't install the rear ones for 2 reasons:

1. I don't think the rear tires kick much stuff onto the body during the summer. I may only use them with the snow tires.

2. They stand out a bit more than the front ones. Especially when viewed from behind. If your car is black, it may look more acceptable to you.

Because they clip on/off, I'll take pics with and without the rear flaps in place. You be the judge.

They are flexable black rubber and there is no tri-star on the flaps.

Dmichael, you may want to consider getting the correct flaps for your car. There is a big difference in fit and size. The skinny part that extends up around the wheel-well/fender-edge doesn't go as far on the coupe flaps. IMO- Looks much better.

I guess I wasted $45 for nothing on the front(sedan) pair - oh well, live and learn. I only want the fronts, do you have to buy all 4 flaps? I assume 6-6-52-8211 gives you all 4.
