Help with the headlights . . .

Hi,

Well, I tried to figure this out from the manual but am still not sure.

I am thinking about replacing the current lamps to a more white halogen or xenon bulb system.

The low beam and high beam bulbs on the right and left are H7 with 55W.

So, I need four of those H7 55W bulbs regardless of halogen or xenon, right?

What about the foglamps? I cannot find anything in the manual about replacing them. Is it possible to buy replacements for those? If so, what is the bulb size/wattage?

Best regards,

CP

Here is a link to everything you'll want to know about automotive lighting, such as why HID conversions are a vad idea, why fake HID's are a very bad idea, and why bulbs should only be replaced with bulbs of the same wattage. Also why fog lights should be yellow.

I contacted Daniel Stern a while ago about Cibié Biode headlamps for an old car I have (he didn't have any), but he offered up a set of SEV Marchel Amplilux lights (7 inch double reflector lights) which had yellow lenses (not street legal in North America).

The price? A cool $450 each. I passed, needless to say. Even if they had been clear lenses, I would not have paid anything near $450 US for the PAIR! These lamps "only" cost about $100 each when they were new (early 1980s)...I wonder if any <ahem> sucker has snapped them up at that price. Maybe Nick Mason bought them for one of his Ferrari GTOs...

My Cibié Z-Beams will just have to do. They're far better lights than the Amplilux anyway, and even better than the Biodes. However, Biodes would definitely look cooler on the car, and be appropriate for the period.
