Lucky

I guess I am pretty lucky because I was really choosing between the X Type and C230k. After reading the edmunds review, I am very glad I went to the C. I went to check out the X Type but didn't test drive it. The interior & exterior looks nice though. I was even thinking about getting it as my next car, now probably not. But the new E class looks really cool...

It is really cool! Inside the new E I couldn't find a trace of MB's cost-saving program . Very nice car. I will stick with my C for some more years (probably), but my next car will for sure be an E.

Carter has made numerous contradiction's in his posts over the past few months. It is old news that his posts are hoax's .

The only picture that he has been able to provide was of the SLK that he supposedly owned and sold in a 2 month period... and it was in the dealers show room which proves nothing.

I encourage everyone to be active here on MBWorld.org, but please do not lie about what you own because most people here don't care if you own a Hyundai or a CL63.

I would not call a clutch wear-out below 210,000 km "normal". My present car (Peugeot 405) has 260,000 km on its original clutch and it should be good for 400,000+. My uncle's Volvo 242 GT (1978) had 300,000 km on its original clutch when he sold it 11 years ago, and his car was ONLY city driven... I guess it's all down to the driver's skill and mechanical sensitivity

C230k
i seriously considered this car verus my C coupe, but couldnt get over how the rear lights on the X type look so much like everything else out there (mainly like a taurus or escort!). Other than that the vehicle seemed really nice. Kinda pricey once you get the 3 liter engine. Underpowered with the 2.5L.

I know it's not a good comparison, but I was actually set on buying the x-type. It was just that the dealer didn't take me seriously and drilled holes for the front license plate when i asked him not to. I think the interior & exterior style (except for the wheels) is better than the benz; navigation blows Benz away, and the AWD factor adds another point. Jags have always been known for their plush interiors, and I think the interior quality is slightly better than the C interior. These cars have improved alot. And while 40% of the car is Ford, it is actually mor Jag than the popular S-type (65% Ford). I did alot of research on it.

jaguar

i also dont like the x type's back. but i have to say i dont know how good or how bad it is and people might think jaguar has alot of probloms and i know they used to a long time ago but i have a Jaguar XK8 Convertible and that thing drives great and i never once had a problom with it. And no i am not lying that i have it like it seems everyone is saying about carter. i will take pics i guess if i have to prove it and it wont be on the showroom floor eaither.

Jag, Audi, VW all had quality issues in the past but I think these companies have made a strong effort to overcome that. These cars are very well made now and I would not have a problem with owning any of them. I would not have bought these brands 10 years ago. Even the Mexican made VW's are very tight and hold together pretty well. A friend of mine had a Beetle before his C320 and the only problem he had in 4 years was a fuse and I gave him one and saved him a trip to the dealer. I wish MB would make cars that dependable.

In JD Powers Dependability survey of 5 year old cars, Jag was #3 and MB was #10. Of course the X or S type where not part of that but most of the reliabilty complaints stem from their older models anyway.

I didn't get the Jag because it wasn't out yet when I got my C coupe.
