The only step necessary is turn the xenon present on, or something more?
I also bougth a BIX set for my coupe (not from Steve, and I'm waiting it to arrive) and I'm checking all the steps necessary to do the change but now, I was thinking I knew all I need to know, and you guys are talking about a problem that I never read here before...
Theres a link to some BIX activation pics here in the forum...

gaiex..... Setting xenon = present is the only setting that needs to be changed. It's just that once that setting has been changed in the SDS system it has to be transferred to the car (saving it). My dealer still hasn't figured it out .....so it must be kinda hard or different than normal.
Once I went to a dealer that new what they were doing, everything was fine.

Just changing the setting itself doesn't mean anything up to the point where the tech actually SAVES that changed setting into the car.
If ONE headlight flickers - it is a headlight problem...if BOTH headlights flicker - it is a coding problem.

On a sidenote: driving around with (a) flickering headlight(s) for a longer period of time - one will ruin the xenon bulb and or igniter!!!

I went today to my dealer to activate xenon present before I install the BIX (I printed the MBdiag process and showed to him) but the car didn't let to turn on the xenon, it say that xenon not present
It seems that only works after installed (not the info I getted here)
I asked my friend (chief engenier) that I was thinking installing BIX and he sayed that was not plug & play, needed to change the wiring, etc...
Its the same answer you got when asked to your dealer??
Steve, In halogen european cars the wiring and install is the same as US cars? Have you ever installed BIX in a c220cdi sport coupe?
I hope not find any problem installing my BIX :p

Getting a smart tech is the key. Took 3 tries for them to set mine. I gave them all the posts from here, guy never sent it to the car until the last time. Training is **** poor at the MB dealers methinks.

PROBLEM with newly installed BIX? (help)
I finally got my bix installed yesterday! I purchased it about 4 weeks ago from Steve. Anyway, they're OEM factory Bi-Xenon lights. My problem is that they turn on when it is dark but they turn off as soon as there is day light then I get 2 Messages on my steering wheel console 1) Left light low beam 2) Right light low beam. Both lamps are now off. Initally they turn on (when i'm in the garage or in the parking lot). once i reach the streets they turn off shortly after the messages come on. Even after i turn off the car the message dont go away! i didnt noticed this yesterday b/c i was driving at night. Also, if i turn the car to high beam /w fog lights on they turn on despite the day light. I'm confused as hell. This conversion cost me close to 2 Grand (CND)
Is this supposed to happen? are they not supposed to be on at all times? i also noticed they dont really have any blue tint to them, it looks like super whites.

The factory lamps are white. The assemblies you have are projector type lamps. You have the type that will illuminate the road better than older high intensity discharge (HID) lamps. Mercedes started years ago with a reflector system. The refraction caused by the reflector made the light appear blue at certain angles. Many people now believe that blue is better. It is not. Your eye is not as receptive to blue light as white but some people will swear blue is easier for them to see. They also get 40 mpg in a BMW.
The halogen lamps use 55 watts on low beam. The xenon lamps use 35 watts. The front SAM is dectecting this difference, and reporting a warning because the car has not been set to xenon=present. You might need to pay your dealer for half an hour to get that set.
Canada has a DRL rule, but I am not sure how Canadian market cars acomplish that. My US based car can be set for DRL via the multi-function display, but my Asian based car does not have that menu choice.
