2003 C230 Kompressor
Lightbulb C230 Rough Idle

Hey guys, know its a pretty typical problem with these, just bought a 2003 C230 Kompressor, All day had no issues driving around, i did put fast fuel premium in it and about 2 hours after that the car sputtered and drops its idle down to 500, seems like it lost power and sputters when accelerating but cruising normal speeds the engine seems fine. In my opinion im thinking its the MAF or a vacuum line, (Thinking the maf because the car wont use those readings till the car is at running temperature) or a vacuum line when the engine heats up expanding the line and opening the crack even more, also noticing the malfunction indicators for the front blinker and license plate but they are working fine, just kind of curious to know if anyone has any ideas that may help. seems strange i can drive for a few hours and then all of a sudden she decides to go to low idle and act like its not getting air or fuel. These also have problems with the throttle body. It's common to be replaced on the (W203).

Yeah, clean it for sure see if that helps. If you do a search here you will find posts where others have had to replace it, Mercedes says it is a common repair. I had to replace mine on both of my C230's.

Awesome thanks for the help. Just curious why usually in the mornings it runs fine all day and then it goes through a spell of rough idle and no power and sputters. I'll do a search. Thanks again for the help. First mb and absolutely in love with them now and would hate to have a pretty lemon

I have fixed literally hundreds of m271 engines and never ever was a throttle body needed to be replaced. Cleaning and service yes.! Mafs seldom fail. Check for air leak and valve timing! O2 sensors and oil in loom
