Exclamation Alternator Fuse Location?

Hello, this is my first post here. I would like to say thanks to everyone involved in this forum because this place has helped me out a lot. Anyways does anyone know where the alternator fuse is on a 2005 C230 Kompressor? I made a rookie mistake and forgot to disconnect my battery when changing my alternator. The wire hit the engine block and made a spark. Now the wire is dead with no current running thru it.

It is a cable assembly that is part of the negative battery cable and connects to the starter. The fuse runs at the back of the engine, above the transmission bell housing. If I remember correctly, the part was close to $200. Took maybe an hour and a half to replace.

it isn’t necessarily a fuse. Looks more like a fusible link. It is insulated in black wire loom and heat shrink and is bolted to the back of the bell housing. You have to access it from the top. It’s a pretty tight squeeze to get your hands in there. Put the car on ramps before you start disconnecting things because you’ll need to access the starter to remove ether wire as well. It basically runs between the starter and the negative battery post
