I like the new lights myself. I doubt this set-up will be a xenon-only design. Witness the 2002 ML, which went to both xenon and non-xenon projector headlamp assemblies.

like most gestalt movements, the origin/source may be in the past, but it takes a while before the it builds enough momentum to be really identified. projector lamps seem to be everywhere now - audis, bmws, now mercs, hids4less now has projector hids (new) kits, a lot of the japanese cars (and unlike some people here, that is not a pejorative to me), etc.

i don't imply that that in itself is "good". but in this case, and being in a controversial mood, i like the new look b/c it's slightly offensive, odd, strange and challenging (almost non-mercedes-ish) while at the same time, it feels more modern (at least to me). actually, i find it consistent w/ much of the same reasons why i got the coupe.

and again, i like to reiterate that the older design is definitely a classic design to me. i find it very elegant and beautiful. but that doesn't mean i cannot appreciate changes to the design.

Perhaps those that posted these images could point to a source?
