Electrical Issues after Alternator Replacement

Electrical Issues after Alternator Replacement
My girlfriend has a 2000 Mercedes 230. Her windshield wipers quit working. She took it to what I have come to believe is a shady, inept mechanic. He said she needed a new alternator.
Since the replacement of the alternator the check engine light is on, the driver side door lock stopped working and the entire radio and navigation system does not function. You can hear a radio station not tuned in properly, but the Seek and every other button does nothing now.
I'm reluctant to have her take it back to this guy because I think he's totally incompetent. Obviously there is a connection between the work he did and the new problems she has. Any suggestions of how to proceed at this point?

Take it elsewhere to determine what he did and sue for damages.

First things first. Get a code reader and pull the codes. Post them here.
Secondly, did he replace with the same brand alternator? My understanding with these cars is that the brand of alternator is actually not interchangeable for some reason.
Lastly, did you check the fuse for the wipers?
