Voltage Regulator IN the alternator?
I feel like Ben Stiller in Zoolander. "The files are IN the computer?!?!?!" Cue monkey sounds. I just ordered a rebuilt bosch ALTERNATOR since I'm getting the infamous red warning light to replace alternator. The SALES guy would have you believe you also need to purchase a bosch voltage regulator, but his rent is due. What do you know about that? 2005 C230, 150K miles btw.
Thx,
Scott

The VR is built into the back of the alternator. You'll have to remove the alternator from the engine in order to replace it. Don't buy a Chinese VR. Since you have a 4 banger this is the time to also replace the over running pulley (OAP) on the alternator.

As the regulator is part of the alternator, it really depends on what the shop decided to do as part of the "rebuild". Only 1 way to find out methinks. With that said, one would sure hope the shop replaced the VR.
