Question Xenon Light bulb types help..

Hi all,

I'm new on here and this is my first C-class (2001 C220 CDI), and to add love it....

I have tried to work out what xenon bulbs this car needs but i am still confused as the the colour shades of the xenon bulbs. I know its 12V/35W I know its a D2R type bulb for this.

What i don't know is; How do i know from the bulbs what light shade it is (if this is the right terminology). i.e. 4300k, 5000k, 6000k etc. and which gives the best lighting? Having checked YouTube i am now even more lost.

Someone said you use the D2S bulb just to cut a new locator groove in it so it fits correctly? is this worth it at all, or will this have any impact to my vehicle?

Please can someone help me, my understanding is also that i should stick to Osram or Phillips bulbs..

Many thanks before hand
