Having a weird AC problem on my '02 c230 coupe. The ac shuts off by itself once in a while. It doesnt happen all the time and while its on, it seems to be working fine. Has anyone else had this problem? Manual says that the refrigerant may be leaking/lost so the compressor shuts off to protect the AC. But it doesnt shut off all the time, so it seems strange.

I had the exact same problem. I could not recreate the problem for the service adviser (of course), so they ened up changing my push button controls. I also had a problem with the air feeling like it was on but all controls indicating it was off.

 

Just got the car back from the dealer. They did the same thing and changed the buttons. You'd think atleast the controls should have some quality construction given that they will be used often. The plastic buttons are pathetic, imo.

 

mine did this last summer. never found out why and it was very sporadic. now that i think about it, it hasnt happened since then...
