205/55/R16 to 225/50/R16
2003 C240 all current tires are 205/55/R16. Online calculators are indicating 225/50/R16 are an equal size, thus my interest. I love wider tires and I would like to upsize all 4 to 225/50, so long as safety and car's tire clearance are not compromised.
My questions
Does anyone have the latter size on?
Do they clear just fine? Talking from experience or confirmed knowledge would be great- I plan to order online and I am trying to avoid surprises.
What effect have you noticed/experienced with the larger tires compared with the former?

Are you mounting them on the same rim? If yes then I doubt they'll clear the front struts. Put your hand between the existing tire and front struts and you'll see what I mean. You need more back spacing.

The 17" wheels you see on C230s with 225 tires are off set much further out from the strut. Think of it as built in wheel spacers.
