1.8 kompressor ECU Software.
Hi all, after disconnecting the battery the yellow engine light came on at dash and I had someone to reset the light. The engine sounded fine, no issues. The diagnostic showed some faults that it was cleaned but it was advised to update the car ECU software. I take my car to main Mercedes dealer for services and never heard of that. Is it true the car may need the update or they are trying to rip me off.
some faults were we’re linked to automatic gear box and speed / cruise control, showing not working but I never felt any faults or things not working.
The car is from late 2004, 80.000 miles, uplifting version.
Thanks very much.

Out Of Control!!
Who was the bonehead that made that statement---maybe he was indicating that you need to waste your money and get a tune.
FYI when you hook up the MB diagnostic tool the tool will automatically alert you to an update---if no alert--no update required.

Hi, that’s what I think. I never had any issues and even when the yellow started to show the engine sounded good. I will wait until next service and will have a word at Mercedes garage .
thank you very much

You never mentioned what the fault was? And there could very well be newer sw available for your engine. Possibly its already updated or the dealer skips the update.
