3.0 c280 engine work as a swap in a c230 sport?
Does anyone know if a 3.0 c280 engine is the same as the 2.5 in a c230? looks exactly the same, and is in the same size car, I'm assuming that its just stroked differently to be a 3.0. if engine is the same length and trans bolts are in the same place should be a easy swap.

If it's the M272 then the block is the same, but it's longer stroke

You might want to either re programme you ecu or get another ecu , to match the extra capacity , or you might not get the best out of the new engine

It's a direct fit..someone who has access to Mercedes Xentry/DAS will need to change the coding mostly in developer mode. You don't need a new ECU.
What is Developer Mode Extension for DAS.
Developer extension of the DAS for Mercedes-Benz vehicles allows in-depth configuration and programming of the control units. This option is typically enabled for the factory version of the scanner. It was meant for development and testing purposes of the onboard electronic systems. It will allow the user to change the configuration of the car. For example, you can change the ECU, program to use a different engine model, change the speed limit or torque settings and a lot more. Using Developer Mode without knowing exactly what you are doing can be dangerous.
