Hey, I want to install an amp in my C230, I already know I want to run the RCA cables behind the dashboard that displays the speedometer and what not. I just need help on how I can run the power cable through this grommet that's located behind the battery. I removed the battery and the tray that holds it in place. The holes are plugged up and I've tried popping them out, puncturing holes into them, as well as prying the whole thing off but haven't had much success. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? I'm not sure. I'd really prefer to run the cable through this grommet rather than the one located by the fuse box to the right of the engine bay.
-Thanks .
You can run the wire wherever you want. Depends on how much amps you will be drawing for taking something from a existing fuse box tho. I have the same car and will be using 3 amps with about 3k watts rms. I will be running my own 0ga cables under the car due to space and convenience. If its just a small amp, maybe using the fuse area could work but in all my stereo installs, I always used complimentary wires instead of existing. Even then You should add the big 3 if you don't already have it especially for systems with a bass emphasis.
If its just a small amp you would have much less time running the wire over the top of the engine and routing it thru the driver side firewall. I've seen many access points there for smaller gauge wires while looking for my own possible access points. Plus it would save you time from taking out the interior to run it from the pass side.
Thank you all for your advice and opinions but I ended up just drilling a hole right next to it and added a small rubber grommet that came with my wiring kit.
